  • Perform generator activities that may include working with, assembling and moving components, including: bar, plate, and strip stock, insulated wire strands, punching, machined parts, various insulating materials, spacers, wedges, separators, and filler pieces; may include: brazing and soldering alloys and working with miscellaneous hardware, lubricants, and abrasives
  • Perform Steam Turbine activities that may include working with, assembling and moving components, sub-assemblies and materials to include: finished castings, fabrications, forgings, finished machined parts, miscellaneous hardware, tin alloys, gases, abrasives, solvents, gasket materials and fry ice

    As an Additive Manufacturing (AM) Specialist, you will work in the emerging technology area of additive fabrication –on a variety of research projects for several GE businesses. You will be responsible for both metal and polymer additive manufacturing systems.

    Essential Responsibilities: You will work with both commercial and experimental AM systems running metal and polymer AM equipment and execute experiments in consultation with a multi-disciplinary team. You will apply your technical knowledge on various projects, serving as a technical resource across the organization, and effectively communicate results to teams and customers.



    You will prepare (repair and process) CAD models for AM fabrication, program and oversee AM systems in operation and coordinate post-processing operations.


    You will work with various project leaders and teams, exercising judgment and independent decision-making, to ensure AM systems usage and scheduling meets the needs of multiple simultaneous projects.


    You will oversee technicians in operating & maintaining AM systems and labs for efficiency and EHS compliance.



    You will assist teams in specifying and procuring AM equipment, materials &/or software. In addition, you will communicate and document relevant work status & process development processes.

    Qualifications/Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or an Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with a minimum 3 years of industrial experience.
    • Extensive experience in operating commercial additive manufacturing (AM) systems
    • Extensive experience with one or more commercial Computer-Aided Design and/or Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) packages.
    • Experience in procuring, designing and/or fabricating mechanical hardware for lab experiments or engineering prototypes.
    • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new technologies and skills.
